Slackage, SENS, and Elections  [11.11.2006]
Ok, I know I haven�t updated in a while. I�ve definitely been slacking.

After I busted out of the Bellagio main event, I did something I had only done once in the past two years: I played Magic!

I was staying at a gamer�s house in Vegas: Dan Place, and we invited over Dave Williams, Efro, and Brock Parker (T Soprano), and we drafted for two days straight. I really like the new cards a lot, but then again, maybe that�s just because they brought back a ton of old cards that I remember from years ago when I used to play competitively.

I have been a little sick w/ Bronchitis, so I decided to skip the WPT�s in Canada and Foxwoods. The lifestyle I live when I travel is just super unhealthy, the complete opposite of how I live at home. It�s very hard for me to find time to go to the gym when I�m not home, and if I�m playing tournaments, it can be hard to get more than two solid meals in a single day. It�s also harder to keep a normal sleep schedule.

Also, since I recently turned 21, I�ve been having a ton of fun going out in LA as often as possible. I put up some Halloween pics. Sorry to dispel the rumors circulating around the internet, but those are only Halloween pics, and not a permanent style change or whatever people thought. Halloween was crazy. Brian Ben and I went out 6 out of 7 nights, and each one had its own share of craziness. I want to keep this blog rated PG-13, so I won�t go into further detail.

I�ll be in Vegas for the first half of December during the Five Diamond Poker Classic at the Bellagio. The main event is a 15k buyin that I�m pretty excited about.

I promised 5% of my main event tournament winnings to SENS research, and as a result I feel kind of guilty that I missed two major tournaments. The Five Diamond has 2 5k events, and a 15k event, so 5% of my gross winnings in any of those 3 tournaments will be going to SENS.

For those of you not familiar with it, please check out http://www.sens.org/ or www.mprize.org. I strongly believe that thanks primarily to SENS, detrimental aging will be a thing of the past in the not-so distant future.

I also want to mention the recent elections which went INCREDIBLY well. The democrats took the House of Representatives which was expected, but also took the Senate after squeaking out a few extra wins in extremely close races. Both Montana and VA came down to less than 10,000 votes. Without either one of those states, the Republicans would have retained the majority.

I feel like America is back on track, and we can soon get rid of that anti-gay marriage, anti-stem cell research bull shit. Also, our foreign relations are sure to go much better. Many other countries rejoiced at the Democrats success in the recent elections, because they have seen how badly the Republicans have messed things up.

Also, this is a time for poker players to rejoice. It�s only a small victory in terms of potential poker legislation, but it certainly won�t hurt the cause. Needless to say, I am now very optimistic about the direction our government will be heading.
